This is a very well-written travel book about this beautiful area of Ireland. I thoroughly enjoyed the research that was done in providing the reader a full and informative details about all aspects of life in the Beara Peninsula. They lived there long enough to adapt to the unique customs and lifestyles of the native people. They truely are a very interesting lot of people. The author went in great detail about the cuisine, the spiritual customs and the age old spirits that dwell in their hearts. It was a great arm-chair tour of Ireland. I thought I would be bored, might even not finish the book. But I was utterly fascinated by Yeadon's descriptions of places and people and events. Many times I could almost see the dramatic landscape he described and longed to see them in color, and so to paint them. I was charmed by the presence of his Annie and their lovely relationship. A wonderful read!
